On Wednesday, President Bush was asked why he vetoed the CHIP legislation that would provide health care to almost ten million children. His response: "to ensure that I am relevant".

It is amazing that he thinks his relevancy is more important than health care for ten million children.

We already have 69 votes in the Senate, more than enough to pass the bill without the President, and the House of Representatives came within 13 votes of overriding his veto yesterday.

This is a tiny margin, and your efforts can help put us over the top.

Sign our petition to member of the House who oppose CHIP -- tell them our children are more important than the President's relevancy.

Now the President is saying "Why don't we sit down and compromise on CHIP?" How in the world does he think we got where we are? How did we get to 69 senators to support this legislation? Compromise.

We started with a cost of $70 billion, then went to $50 billion and finally compromised at $35 billion. For the President to come now and say, "Let's compromise," is completely disingenuous. Saving children should be more important to the President than saving face.

Sign our petition to member of the House who oppose CHIP -- tell them our children are more important than the President's relevancy.

Here is the irony of the President's veto: This program was created by Orrin Hatch, a conservative Republican, and Ted Kennedy 10 years ago. Why? Because Orrin Hatch had two families come to him -- both families were working. They didn't qualify for Medicaid. They couldn't buy insurance. They didn't have the money. So in the finest example of bipartisan cooperation, conservative Orrin Hatch and liberal Ted Kennedy sat down and created one of our nation's most successful health care programs.

Now George Bush vetoed this bill simply to remain relevant. Ten million children are not irrelevant.

Sign our petition to member of the House who oppose CHIP -- tell them our children are more important than the President's relevancy.

Harry, I've supported you, I've given money to the DNC, and your race. I've supported and worked during the last election by actually going door to door and facing some pretty nasty people occasionally.

BUT you keep caving to the Thug party and giving in to the president. Don't you see how much of a laughingstock the Democratic party is around the country?

Do you not read all the editorials, opinions and letters asking you to do finally stand up the president?

We are not asking you to impeach although that would be nice, but to finally stop giving in.

Take the AG nomination. The dems are already caving in and allowing a man who will simply be another Bushbot apologist who okays all the illegal acts this president keeps going.

The idiotic statement the nominee for AG made about how no man is going to break the law if the president brings him within the law which doesn't even make sense simply shows they will give him what he wants and make sure he never has to pay for his crimes.

WHY WON'T YOU DO ANYTHING TO STOP THESE PEOPLE?!?!?!

Something is just very wrong here Senator.
Please step up and quit worrying about what the rightwing whackjobs on radio and TV have to say. No one really believes them except the 25 percenters and who cares what they think?

Please start acting like democrats and less like little girls who get frightened every time a member of the Thug party gives you a dirty look.

THANK YOU FOR THE BLOG BY THE WAY!!!!!

I know you probably are not going to be happy about some of the comments but thanks for letting us vent.

I'll sign your petition. Please support Rep. Stark
By User from Seattle, WA, Oct 20, 2007 at 2:27:51 AM ET
Representative Pete Stark (D-CA) expressed my thoughts on this subject. Please stand with him, speak out, and say that no one should have to apologize for speaking truth as he did.

This is an opportunity to show that the Democratic Party has backbone, and knows how to stand with its own. You and Representative Pelosi are in a position to show the strength of this Party. Stand with Representative Stark and what he has said.

It is time to speak the truth.

This Nation has lost its Soul
By Georgia Hedrick, Oct 20, 2007 at 12:24:28 PM ET
There is no question in my mind that this nation is being run by a sociopath. Too cowardly himself to ever go to war, he thinks it's a big game he can watch and control.
Now that 'Game of War' is bogged down in so much death and pathos, he goes on to pick on the children.

Yes, sir, that will get a rise out of the populace! And most likely Bush laughs at it, at his power, at his ability to destroy everything this country once was.

I am so sick of it. I am so sick of Bush and his Administration. And now I am getting sick of the inability of the Democrats to impeach him. "Impeachment is off the table" said Nancy Polosi once
upon a time. WHY?

I say: try this administration for CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY, for WAR CRIMES, send this sociopath to jail forever. He is evil beyond all evil and still he is in power. Why?

We keep a liar, a cheat, an arrogant greedy man, who now picks on the children just to be sure of his own 'relevance'--the Devil himself is running this country. How long do we put up with this?

When did this country die?
