Stirring up the economy...There have been hundreds of solutions expressed on how to bring back the economy and the jobs that are lacking in this country. I am definitely not claiming to be an expert on the subject and I'm happy to have a job. However, I have sympathy for those who have lost their jobs recently due to the financial crisis and the outsourcing of jobs that were a staple of this nations economical growth. All this, I believe, is a result of poor management by the political machines that have run this country into the ground. I don't begrudge big business for going offshore to try to enhance profits but why can't there be a limit to what they can produce that way. In a casual conversation I was having last week a thought came to mind. Why can't those that are producing their products outside of the country be limited to the percentage of foreign production they are allowed. For example; Okay, you can produce off shore but only 50 to 60 percent of your goods. The other 40 or 50 per cent have to be produced here in the U.S. I consider that fair and they can adjust their price structure accordingly. I tried adamantly a week ago, when I was in New Mexico, to find items that were manufactured in the U.S. and of hundreds of items I searched through I might have found three or four. Unacceptable and unfair to the out or work laborers and not fair to those of us who want to buy American. It was the same story over the holidays. Not a bulb was made here or a Santa Claus or any of the characters or decorations that signify Christmas or Hanukkah. Can't someone take this idea to Washington and come up with a similar compromise regulating some of the manufacturing to bring only a portion of it back. This sounds fair to me. The problem with the politicians in Washington, no matter the party, is that they claim to be working for their constituents and truly a handful of them are but, reality is they are doing what is natural for any family man and that is worrying about themselves and their families into the immediate future. They position themselves for their full retirement and then do favors to procure high paying lobbying jobs as soon as they retire from politics. Come on guys. There are families and children starving in this land of plenty we are living in...Where is our Champion?
