Last night the voters of Pennsylvania sent a strong signal across the state and across the nation. Pennsylvania Democrats stand united and they are focused on one thing: sending a new face to the United States Senate.
I want to give my sincere thanks to my supporters, volunteers and my staff for helping us take a big step closer to the goal of changing Washington. Most of all, I want to thank the Pennsylvania voters for choosing to put their support behind me once again.
Now I have a simple message for all Pennsylvania voters - Democrats, Republicans and Independents. If you see jobs going overseas, gas bills going up, medical bills going through the roof and wages going nowhere and believe we need stay the course in Washington, then I am not your candidate. I believe Pennsylvania needs a new direction and a new Senator.
If you believe it's time we had a Senator in step with Pennsylvania, a Senator who works every day on Pennsylvania priorities - like growing our economy, creating jobs, lowering the cost of health care, reducing the deficit and investing in education and retirement security - then I am asking you to get involved in our campaign. We need volunteers to establish a grassroots network and do the tough work of sharing our message with voters all over the state. Visit my website at www.bobcaseyforpa.com and join our team.
But this election is about more than just local Pennsylvania priorities - it's a referendum on the national Republican leadership in Washington and the direction they've taken our country. It's time we make our voices heard. It's time we stand up to the leaders in Washington and tell them that "staying the course" has run its course. It's time we tell them we won't accept more of the same. Because whether you live in Pennsylvania, Texas, New York, Wyoming, or Nevada, you can help make a difference if you believe this country needs a change.
I am running for the U.S. Senate because I believe we can do better than the current divide and conquer mentality in Washington. I believe we can unite and prosper. I believe in taking a new, hopeful path where we roll up our sleeves and go to work together to create the jobs of the future, tackle the problem of unaffordable health care, and reduce the deficit.
That should be the job of our United States Senator and that will be our central message to the voters of Pennsylvania as we continue to build this campaign toward victory in November.
This election is a choice. It's a choice between those who say "stay the course" and those who say "it's time for a change." It's a choice between those who say we never had it so good, and those who say we can do better. It's a choice between a politician who has been a rubber stamp for President Bush and an independent voice for Pennsylvania. Most of all, it's a choice between those who want six more years of the same old thing and those who want a new direction.
