What Happens to “Domestic Enemies” in Congress if Sharron Angle is Elected US Senator?
Despite multiple opportunities to clarify or retract her remarks, Angle continues to defend her belief that “domestic enemies” exist in Congress
LAS VEGAS – In the increasingly unlikely event that Sharron Angle becomes the next US Senator from Nevada, she will ultimately stand in front of the Senate chamber, raise her right hand, and take the following oath:
“I, Sharron Angle, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”
Frighteningly, Sharron Angle actually believes those “domestic enemies” against which she’d swear to defend exist within the very body she seeks to serve. Since it was revealed that Angle believes there are “domestic enemies” in the US Congress, Angle has been given no less than four chances to clarify or retract her remarks, but she insists on defending the insane notion that enemies of the state are somehow serving in Congress.
So how would the oath play out? Against which of the 99 other members of the US Senate would Sharron Angle immediately be forced to defend the Constitution? And how would she defend against these enemies – an especially salient question given her penchant for discussing “2nd Amendment remedies.”
Alarmingly, this is a serious question: Would Angle finish the oath, turn, and go after one of her colleagues on the floor of the US Senate?
Angle’s deadly seriousness about “defending her oath of office” at all costs became clear when her new DC handlers tried pathetically to distance her from her previous affiliations with the radical, paramilitary group known as the “Oath Keepers.” This effort belies the fact that Angle had openly embraced and sought the support of the Oath Keepers before the June primary.
Angle has been relegated in recent interviews with national news outlets to suggesting her remarks were taken out of context – they weren’t – and that the “domestic enemies” comments were “not my words.”
Listen to the audio and think about that… If Bill Manders had said “Sharron, I think Barack Obama is not the legitimate President of the United States because he was born in Kenya” and she said “Bill, I think you’re right” would that be any different?
“Apparently not even Sharron Angle’s new DC handlers can force her to disavow her dangerous and inflammatory rhetoric that there are ‘domestic enemies’ within the walls in the US Congress,” said Reid campaign spokesman Kelly Steele. “The fact that Sharron Angle continues to defend the notion there are ‘enemies of the state’ serving in Congress without a shred of evidence, remorse, or willingness to name the names of the alleged traitors shows how extreme and dangerous she truly is.”

LAS VEGAS – Suponiendo que Sharron Angle se convierta en la siguiente Senadora por Nevada –una suposición que se aleja más de la realidad con cada día que transcurre—llegaría el momento cuando tendría que pararse en el pleno del Senado, levantar su mano derecha, y hacer el siguiente juramento:
“Yo, Sharron Angle, juro solemnemente (o afirmo) que apoyaré y defenderé la Constitución de los Estados Unidos contra todos los enemigos, foráneos y domésticos; que daré testimonio de esto y ofreceré mi vasallaje; que esta obligación la acepto de mi libre albedrío, sin ninguna reserva consciente o con propósito de evasión; y que cumpliré bien y fielmente los deberes de la posición que estoy a punto de tomar. Que me ayude Dios en mi cometido”.
Lo preocupante aquí es que Angle cree sinceramente que esos “enemigos domésticos” contra los cuales ha jurado luchar están dentro del mismo cuerpo legislativo dentro del cual trabajaría. Desde que se reveló que Angle cree que existen “enemigos domésticos” en el Congreso de EE.UU., Angle ha tenido no menos de cuatro oportunidades para aclarar o disculparse por sus comentarios, pero insiste en defender la idea descabellada de que los enemigos del estado están prestando su servicio en el Congreso.
¿Bueno, si ese fuera el caso, como cumpliría su juramento? ¿Contra cual de los otros 99 miembros del Senado se lanzaría Angle en defensa inmediata de la Constitución? ¿Y exactamente que les haría, y cómo? Al fin y al cabo estamos hablando de una mujer quien amenazó que si el Congreso no cambiaba de dirección con las elecciones de noviembre, “estaríamos hablando de remedios basados en a 2nda Enmienda”.
Aunque suene jocoso, esta es una pregunta sería: ¿A penas terminara su juramento, se voltearía Angle, y atacaría a uno de sus colegas en el Pleno del Senado de EE.UU.?
Mientras tanto sus asesores intentan desesperadamente distanciar a la candidata de su afiliación con el radical grupo paramilitar conocido como los “Defensores del Juramento” (Oath Keepers en inglés). Es una difícil tarea, ya que Angle abiertamente les pidió su apoyo a los Defensores del Juramento antes de la primaria republicana en junio.
Angle ha sugerido ingenuamente en entrevistas con medios nacionales que sus comentarios fueron tomados fuera de contexto – no lo fueron – y que los comentarios sobre los “enemigos domésticos…no fueron mis palabras”.
Escuche Ud. el audio y decida si Bill Manders hubiese dicho “Sharron, yo creo que Barack Obama no es el Presidente legitimo de los Estados Unidos porque nació en Kenya, ¿no crees?” Y que Angle hubiese respondido “Bill, tienes razón”. ¿Cual sería la diferencia?
“Por mucho que quieran, los asesores de Angle no han podido obligarla a rechazar toda esta retorica peligrosa sobre ‘enemigos domésticos’ en el Congreso”, dijo José Dante Parra, vocero de la campaña de Reid. “Angle continua defendiendo la idea que hay enemigos en el Congreso sin un pizca de prueba, sin ninguna vergüenza y sin decir exactamente quienes son. Este tipo de comentarios son peligrosos por lo que pueden incitar, pero ella no parece entender las consecuencias extremas que sus comentarios pueden acarrear”.
