Two Months Until Election Day: Who Will Win the Battle Between Sharron Angle & her New DC Handlers?

Firestorm over Katrina remarks highlights the ongoing struggle as efforts to recreate Angle’s extreme and dangerous agenda continue

LAS VEGAS – Exactly two months from today, voters will select who will represent them in the United States Senate: Harry Reid and his proven record of delivering for our state or Sharron Angle.  Angle, who has consistently advocated an extreme and dangerous agenda in her two decades as a career politician, has been exposed for the unbelievable makeover her new DC handlers have attempted to make her palatable for a general election.

But with only 60 days to decide, which Sharron Angle can Nevada voters expect to see between now and then?

Will Angle relapse into the “battle-tested” conservative firebrand who openly expressed her extreme and dangerous agenda in her own words on her campaign website?  Or will Angle’s new DC handlers be successful in their attempts to recreate a shiny new version of her – muzzling their candidate or training her to recite Orwellian rhetoric that hides her true beliefs from the voters of Nevada.

Perhaps no better example of the ongoing struggle between the real Sharron Angle and the one her new DC handlers are attempting to create exists than the current firestorm over Angle’s statements opposing federal aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

On the five-year anniversary of Katrina, veteran Nevada journalist Jon Ralston reported on comments Angle made during her failed 2006 Congressional bid where she declared herself a “no” vote on the Katrina bill. The US Senate passed the bill 97-0, which would have made Angle the only Senator in the body to oppose the legislation. But after five days, a doubling down on her position, and a firestorm of national criticism, Angle’s new DC handlers today finally decided to walk back her comments

“With exactly two months left until election day, Sharron Angle’s precipitous drop in polls and her total inability to arrest her downward spiral suggests exactly one thing about the efforts of her new DC handlers – they aren’t working,” said Reid campaign spokesman Kelly Steele. “The attempts of Sharron Angle’s new DC handlers to remake her as anything but the extreme and dangerous candidate that would eliminate Social Security and Medicare, abolish the Department of Education, and turn Nevada into America’s nuclear dumping ground can’t be changed, muzzled or papered over.”
