Statement on Angle’s Refusal to Denounce Anti-Latino Front Group’s “Don’t Vote” Message

LAS VEGAS - In response to news reports that Sharron Angle is refusing to denounce ads run by a right-wing, pro-Angle front group that encourages Latinos not to vote, Reid campaign spokesman Kelly Steele issued the following statement:

“Since the moment that news of these despicable voter suppression tactics broke last night, bipartisan Nevada leaders and the Latino community have spoken out against these un-American tactics with one unified voice – and today those shameful ads were pulled from the airwaves.”

“The fact that Sharron Angle refused to speak out against these truly despicable tactics by this out-of-state front group trying to silence the voices of Hispanic Nevadans speaks volumes about her hostility toward Latino voters, and is just another example of the extreme anti-Hispanic agenda she’s espoused throughout this campaign.”

“The voter suppression tactics of this sleazy front group are simply un-American, and by remaining silent on such an important issue, Sharron Angle is supporting these tactics. She clearly has no business representing a large and diverse state like Nevada in the US Senate.”
