Sharron Angle Refuses to Explain Herself to Local Hispanic Teens Asking For An Apology
Then, Angle campaign surrogate goes on cable news and trashes students as “racist” and uses air quotes around the word “Hispanic”
LAS VEGAS – The national uproar surrounding Sharron Angle’s pathological assertion to a group of local Hispanic teenagers that her widely-criticized immigration ads aren’t actually about Latinos – but rather about people crossing the northern border from Canada – and her offensive statements to the Hispanic group that they “look a little Asian” is showing no signs of abating, and Angle and her allies are only making it worse.
Yesterday, leaders of the Hispanic Student Union at Rancho High School in Las Vegas asked Sharron Angle for an apology for her offensive “Asian” remarks and her dishonest, widely-panned explanation of her ads during her visit last Friday. Not only has Angle refused to address the controversy in public, making only vague statements through her handlers, but she’s now canceling public events to avoid addressing voters or the media. And she’s thus far refused to apologize to the students she offended.

Adding insult to injury, Angle campaign surrogate Heidi Harris – who headlined a recent fundraiser for Angle, has identified herself at a recent forum as the “official defender of Sharron Angle,” and invites Angle on her radio show weekly for the softball interviews Angle uses to raise money – went on MSNBC and trashed the students at Rancho High School. During her appearance, Harris called the students “racist” and repeatedly used air quotes when she said the word “Hispanic” to describe them. She also asserted that Angle should not apologize to the students she offended because her Mexican grandchildren give her carte blanche to talk about Latinos in any way she wants.
Hispanic press, both locally and nationally, immediately honed in on Angle's ridiculous assertion to the students:

“Sharron Angle continues to make statewide and national news for insulting an entire community of Nevadans, and she should man up and apologize to the Hispanic students she’s offended – both for telling them they look ‘Asian’ and for lying to them by saying her ads featuring nefarious images of Latino men were about Canada,” said Reid campaign spokesman Kelly Steele. “Nevada voters deserve an explanation from Sharron Angle, in her own words, about this and so many other elements of her extreme and dangerous agenda she refuses to address in public. With just 12 days left until election day, it’s far past time Angle comes out of her underground bunker and faces the music.”
