“41 to Angle” – How Sharron Angle’s Record Proves She’d Be a Miserable Failure in the US Senate

Angle has promised obstruction of key economic measures needed to help Nevada’s struggling economy, and her record shows she’s not kidding

LAS VEGASToday’s Review-Journal provides further alarming insight into just how disastrous Sharron Angle would be representing Nevadans in the US Senate. As Nevadans look for solutions in these tough economic times, Angle’s record makes clear that she would offer nothing in the way of leadership, and would in fact be key roadblock to making progress or delivering for Nevadans. In fact, even before this morning’s R-J piece, Angle boasted of her plans to do everything possible to further obstruct any legislative progress in Washington.

But as Angle says: Don’t read her lips, read her record.

Former colleagues of Angle in the legislature note that her rigid demeanor and her unwillingness to compromise or work with others rendered her virtually useless as a legislator – with members of the leadership refusing to even consider her bills.  Angle’s utter ineffectiveness was bourn out by the opinions of her fellow Assembly members:

“Angle twice was chosen the worst Assembly member in polls conducted by the Las Vegas Review-Journal after the legislative sessions. She was named the second-worst and the third-worst member in her other sessions. Legislators, lobbyists and press members participated in the polls. The same number of Republican legislators as Democrats were given poll forms. The polls were anonymous.”

And as many Nevadans struggle in these tough economic times, Angle’s record of obstructionism makes clear that she would only make our economic situation worse. She has repeatedly said she would have voted against emergency unemployment assistance, calling out-of-work Nevadans “spoiled” – a position so extreme even Republican Dean Heller called for her to explain herself.

The same is true of many critical job-creating and consumer protection initiatives before the US Senate. Angle has said she would reverse Wall Street reform, opposes Sen. Reid’s small business jobs package, opposes emergency aid to save 1,400 Nevada education jobs while protecting tax breaks that ship jobs overseas, and has been extremely candid about her belief that it’s not her job as a US Senator to fight for the jobs of Nevadans.

“While Sharron Angle’s new DC handlers attempt to distract attention from her extreme and dangerous agenda, her record in the Assembly speaks volumes to the type of US Senator she’d make in Washington – utterly useless at best, and extremely disastrous for Nevada at worst,” said Reid campaign spokesman Kelly Steele.
