Reid touts US judge nominee Navarro from Clark County
Reno Gazette Journal, 2/10/2010 - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is scheduled to testify on Capitol Hill before the Judiciary Committee Wednesday in support of Clark County’s chief deputy district attorney for a seat on the federal bench.
President Obama nominated Gloria Navarro for the position in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas in December after the Nevada Democrat recommended her.
The 42-year-old daughter of Cuban immigrants says Spanish was her first language. She learned English from watching “Sesame Street” on television.
Obama says Navarro embodies “the evenhandeness, intellect, and spirit of service that Americans expect and deserve from their federal judges.”
