Lahontan Valley News, 10/8/10 - Sen. Bill Raggio, R-Reno, regarded as the most powerful and respected Republican in Nevada, announced Thursday he will support Democrat Harry Reid over Sharron Angle in the closely contested U.S. Senate race.

In an open letter, Raggio slammed Angle's legislative record and what he referred to as her extreme positions on the issues.

LAS VEGAS – It’s only Tuesday, and already more of Sharron Angle’s extreme, over-the-top rhetoric is receiving national media attention following yesterday’s disastrous interview with Fox News Channel's Neil Cavuto.  During the interview, Angle stated that 77 year-old Republican Senator Bob Bennett from Utah had “outlived his usefulness” in response to Bennett's criticism of her candidacy.

LAS VEGAS – In spite of all attempts at a post-primary makeover, Sharron Angle has made one thing abundantly clear – as a US Senator she doesn’t believe it would be her job to fight for the jobs of struggling Nevadans. Following a number of statements suggesting she had no interest in fighting for jobs, Angle stated unequivocally last week that she wouldn’t have gone to bat to save CityCenter and the 22,000 jobs at stake on the project.

LAS VEGAS – In Sharron Angle’s world, key historical moments like the Emancipation Proclamation and the desegregation of the United States military were unconstitutional. While discussing her dangerous plan to turn Yucca Mountain into the nation's nuclear dumping ground, and generally ranting about Presidential Powers, Angle said she believes that executive orders like Equal Employment Opportunity, non-discrimination in the workplace, and the bi-partisan debt commission are all unacceptable.

It’s Sunday and that can only mean one thing: It’s time for the Las Vegas Review-Journal to use its news pages to defend U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle.  While other news outlets are calling out Angle for the makeover she’s undergoing by her new DC handlers, this morning’s front page headline on the Review-Journal’s website reads: “GOP's Angle rejects political makeover”.  The print version’s headline on the front page of the “Nevada” section declares: “Angle won’t change her style”, with a subhead: “GOP Senate hopeful rejects political makeover”.

Angle: "As your U.S. Senator, I am not in the business of creating jobs

LAS VEGAS – Republican Congressman Dean Heller was on “Face to Face with Jon Ralston” tonight where they discussed the imminent passage of a much-needed extension of unemployment benefits for struggling Nevadans. When asked about Sharron Angle’s stance that Nevadans looking for work are “spoiled”, Heller responded the way many Nevadans already have.
