GUEST BLOG: Day of Action for Sen. Reid w/ Carole King
My wife and I participated in the Day of Action at Senator Reid's campaign office in Summerlin which gave us the opportunity to meet Carole King, who came to the office to lend her support to the Senator.
Ms. King is quite vocal and genuine in her support for Senator Reid. She spoke of residing in the neighboring state of Idaho and has an understanding of the West's unique lifestyle and the particular problems we face. It was a thrill to see her and her speech was inspiring. At the end she led us
in a chorus of "You've Got a Friend". It was amazing.
For those of us who participated in making phone calls and other actions in support that day, a drawing was held with the prize being tickets to that night's show with Carole King and James Taylor at the MGM Grand Garden Arena complete with backstage passes. I was lucky enough to win the tickets!
My wife Lois and I attended the show that evening and were treated to the concert of a lifetime. We both are in our mid 50's in age, and to us the music of Carole King and James Taylor is part of the soundtrack of our lives. They performed for over two hours with their wonderful veteran band
of musicians who have worked with them since the 1970's. Carole King and James Taylor are not only performers and singer/songwriters. Their music is a part of our American culture. They are true treasures and part of our musical heritage and legacy.
After the show, a small group of us went back stage to Ms. King's dressing room where she gave us a warm welcome. She could not have been any nicer or more gracious. She again spoke of her respect for Senator Reid and thanked us for our support of the Senator.
As a fifty year Nevada resident and a long time member of the Democratic Party I would like to extend my thanks to Senator Reid and his staff for all they do for the state of Nevada and for this most excellent experience.
