Reid Releases New TV Ad Touting Clean Energy Successes, Job Creation
LAS VEGAS [10/30/09] - Today, Nevada Senator Harry Reid announced his campaign is airing its third television ad titled “Right Direction”, which highlights Reid’s leadership championing renewable energy in Nevada. The ad describes the majority leader’s work to ensure that the state takes advantage of its enormous solar, wind, and geothermal potential to create thousands of good paying jobs here at home.
“It’s in the desert sky and deep underground, energy that’s made in America, fueling new Nevada jobs,” begins the ad. “And Harry Reid’s making it happen. Bringing the energy industry to the state.”
“Nevada’s got everything it takes to lead in alternative energy,” said Sen. Reid. “And all the good jobs that comes with it.”
The ad details Sen. Reid’s proven track record for Nevada on clean energy issues. Specifically, the spot calls attention to Reid’s success getting solar, wind, and geothermal development fast –tracked on public lands in Nevada – an endeavor that promises to create thousands of jobs. In addition, it talks about the clean energy tax credit he secured that will create forty one thousand new energy jobs in the state.
The ad goes on to describe the more than $144 million investment secured through the Recovery Act for Nevada geothermal projects. This includes the nearly $93 million for the state announced yesterday by U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and Sen. Reid, which is projected to create 1,100 new energy jobs.
“This ad highlights exactly how Sen. Reid is leveraging his seniority to make Nevada the nation’s leader in renewable energy and clean jobs,” said campaign manager Brandon Hall. “Sen. Reid is putting his clout to work to help Nevada create good paying jobs by capitalizing on its abundant natural resources including solar, wind, and geothermal energy.”
