OP-ED: Ely Times: Getting Nevadans back to work

Ely Times, 3/10/10 - Congress passed the Economic Recovery Act, also known as the stimulus bill, because we had to act decisively to stop the national recession from becoming a depression. While our recovery is ongoing, I’m happy to say that we were able to stabilize our economy, and stop an already bad situation from becoming even worse. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office says the Recovery Act created or saved between 1 to 2.1 million jobs in the fourth quarter of 2009 alone, and has allowed our economy to grow.

...

We have to continue the early success we’ve had from the Recovery Act, and this jobs bill is the next step in putting Nevadans back to work and fixing our ailing economy. Over the coming months, I will continue to work hard in the Senate for those Nevadans who are struggling to find work, and do everything in my power to ensure they have the opportunity to get back to work in a good paying job.

I am determined to not let them down.
