Las Vegas Review-Journal — Clark County District Judge Elissa Cadish has been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as a U.S. district judge in Nevada, Sen. Harry Reid announced Thursday.
Reid, D-Nev., recommended Cadish for the job.
"Elissa Cadish is a highly respected legal mind who has earned the esteem of litigants, practitioners, and her colleagues as a judge in Nevada's Eighth Judicial District Court," Reid said in a statement. "Cadish has served Nevadans with distinction, and throughout her career she has exhibited integrity, thoughtfulness, and fairness. I am confident she will bring those qualities to the bench and make an outstanding federal judge. I look forward to her swift confirmation."
KRNV, 1/20/12 - Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced a $688,256 grant for safety measures that will keep Nevada highways safe for drivers and passengers. The grants will be used by the Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety to address problem areas throughout the state identified by the Nevada Department of Transportation.
“Nevadans rely on our state’s roads every day, and I’m pleased that this grant will support our highways to keep travelers safe,” Reid said. “Our state’s economy is dependent on reliable means of transportation, which makes these resources crucial to the well-being of all Nevadans.”
Nevada Appeal, 1/8/12 - Nevadans may remember hearing about a young Henderson girl who suffered mightily from simply eating her vegetables. When she was 9 years old, Rylee Gustafson ate raw spinach salad that made her so sick that she spent months in the hospital, and the effects of her E. coli food poisoning linger.
Rylee wasn't the only Nevadan to suffer from life-threatening food poisoning, but her story serves as a stark reminder of why food safety laws should have been updated a long time ago. Because of her and others, I worked hard to make that happen.
